1 killed, 4 wounded in Sar-i-Pul explosion
SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): A bomb blast killed one person and wounded four others on Sunday in the capital of northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said.
The bomb, planted on a handcart, went off in front of Azizi Bank branch in Sar-i-Pul city at around 3pm in the afternoon, the provincial council head, Maulvi Noor Mohammad Baig, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said several people suffered casualties in the blast and a child was also among the wounded.
Baig said the wounded persons were shifted to hospital with one of them in critical condition. The explosion also caused financial losses to the bank branch and some nearby shops, he added.
An eyewitness, Hamidullah Baig, said an uprising group commander Wakil Khan was killed and three of his bodyguards and a child were wounded in the incident.
Sar-i-Pul Civil hospital officials confirmed receiving one dead body and four wounded persons from the scene.
Local security officials did not comment on the incident as yet and no group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
