18 Taliban militants killed as clash continues in Uruzgan
TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Eighteen Taliban militants have been killed during a clash with Afghan security forces in Dehrawud district of central Uruzgan province on Sunday, the district police chief said.
Mohammad Nabi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the clash broke out in Dehzak area at about 8am and was still ongoing.
He said as of 5pm in the afternoon 18 militants, including a group leader named Zandani, was among 18 killed during the firefight. Several others militants were wounded, he added.
Nabi said three Afghan National Army soldiers were also wounded. He said the Dehzak area would be soon cleared of militants.
But Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi said so far five policemen had been killed in the clash in Dehrawud and the clash was still ongoing.
