7 police injured in grenade assault on Zabul checkpoint
QALAT (Pajhwok): Seven policemen were injured as a result of a predawn insurgent attack in the southern province of Zabul, an official said on Sunday.
The policemen were injured at 2am when the Taliban hurled a hand grenade at a police checkpoint in the Kechi area of Arghandab district, said the administrative head of the town.
Mullah Zareef told Pajhwok Afghan News two attackers were also killed in retaliatory gunfire from policemen.
However, Taliban spokesmanQari Yousuf Ahmadi said seven policemen were killed in the attack, in which three of the assailants were also injured.
