Waziristani refugees in Paktika receive cash assistance
SHARAN (Pajhwok): Nearly $300,000 cash assistance was extended to war-displaced families from Pakistan’s tribal region of Waziristani in Barmal and Orgun districts of southeastern Paktika province, officials said on Sunday.
The cash assistance was provided by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) and the department of rural rehabilitation and development
The refugees from North and South Waziristan are residing in the Barmal and Orgun districts of Paktika, Director of Refugees and RepatriationIhsanullah Ihsan said.
Each family was given $100, he said, adding nearly 150,000 refugee households living in the districtswere in urgent need of relief..
Meanwhile, one migrant from Waziristan in Barmal, Allah Jan Wazir, said the assistance was not sufficient to meet his family needs.
A tribal elder from the district, Mirza Khan, was happy over the delivery of aid. He asked the government to survey the refugees’ situation before distributing aid.
