3.3 million afs stolen from Badakhshan-based NAC office
FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): More than 3 million afghanis has been stolen from the office of the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) in northeastern Badakhshan province and manager and two workers of the office have been detained in connection with the theft, an official said on Tuesday.
Badakhshan deputy police chief Col. Sakhi Dad Haidari told Pajhwok Afghan News the money at the Norwegian committee was looted by unknown men on Monday night.
He said it was still unclear how much money was available in the office but an investigation into the matter was underway.
A guard and two officials of the office have been detained as suspects, he said.
However, crime branch chief, Col. Imam Ali Azizi said their team was investigating the incident and manager and two workers of the committee had been arrested.
Eng. Behzad, director of the NAC office, confirmed the money had been stolen and said the police investigation would reveal the amount of money stolen.
However, a guard of the NAC office said on condition of anonymity that masked men tied of hands and legs of the guard on duty and robbed 3.3 million afs from the Safe of the office.
