10,000 homes scheme to be launched soon in Herat
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Urban Development Minister Sayed Mansoor Sadaat Naderi on Saturday said the foundation stone-laying ceremony for construction of 10,000 residential buildings in western Herat province would be performed soon.
Naderi, who arrived in Herat City to review the urban master plan, told a conference here that the process of land acquisition for the apartments had been completed by the Afghanistan Independent Land Authority and bids for the project would be solicited in the near future
Without providing details about distribution of the residential buildings, Naderi added: “The bidding process would begin promptly.”
Naderi also said the Herat municipality would be given more authority to resolve some of Herat residents’ problems concerning his ministry in order to save people’s time.
He asked Herat mayor to be more transparent in his affairs after obtaining extra authorities from the ministry.
The Herat master plan was readied with the help of University of Florence of Italy and lecturers of Herat University, Naderi said.
Master plans of Herat and six other cities had been shared with the president for a review, the minister added. “These master plans would be completely implemented after they are studied,” he said.
Herat governor Mohammad Asif Rahim, who participated in the conference, said: “Giving more authorities to local government would accelerate the work process, in addition to saving people’s time.”
The meeting, which was also attended by some experts, appreciated the Urban Development Ministry’s plans for Herat.
