2 ALP members killed, 3 injured in Helmand clashes
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Two Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed and three others wounded after militants attacked their checkpoint in the Greshk district of southern Helmand province on Monday.
The early morning attack took place in Malgir area, Greskh police chief 1st Lt. Mohammad Ismail Khapalwak told Pajhwok Afghan News. Six attackers also suffered casualties when the security personnel returned fire, he said.
But a security source in the police headquarters said the Taliban captured Malgir police station, killing four policemen and injuring five others.
According to the source, in a separate incident, a checkpoint commander and another policeman were killed on Sunday in Khanshin district of the province.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi who said nothing about the attack in Greshk, said the fighters killed the commander of Hamam checkpoint, Nabi Jan, and another police in Khanshin district and injured six others and seized nine weapons.
