Baghlan displaced families desperate for assistance
PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Displaced by the reemerged conflict, residents of Dand-i-Ghori and Dand-i-Shahabuddin localities of northern Baghlan province are in desperate need of immediate assistance.
Operations against militants were launched in Dand-i-Ghori one month ago and in Dand-i-Shahabuddin weeks ago, forcing hundreds of families into leaving their houses and seeking shelter in safe places.
Mohammad Nasim, a resident of Niazullah village in Dand-i-Ghori, said: “I left home along with my six children and sought refuge in a safe place, but the government is yet provide us assistance.”
But Mohammad Naeem Kakar, a Ministry of Refugee official, said a survey was being conducted in the two areas to identify the exact number of displaced persons and provide them assistance.
He said UNHCR and the demining organization had pledged assistance with the displaced persons numbering around 350 families.
