Kabul to receive 10,000 Kalashnikovs from Moscow
KABUL (Pajhwok): Russia will hand over 10,000 Kalashnikovs assault rifles to the Afghan government on Wednesday, an official said on Tuesday.
National Security Council (NSC) spokesman Tawab Ghorzang told Pajhwok Afghan News the Russian ambassador in Kabul would hand over the AK-47 assault rifles to NSC advisor Hanif Atmar at a ceremony tomorrow.
He said the Afghan government was thankful to Moscow for the assistance that would help strengthen the Afghan security forces.
Ghorzang said the two countries had been in talks on the Kalashnikovs over the past six months during which the NSC advisor visited Moscow and then the Russian interior minister visited Kabul.
