Taliban kill kidnapped policeman, uprising force member in Jawzjan
SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Taliban have killed a policeman they kidnapped and a local uprising force member in the Aqcha district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Mohammad Reza Ghafoori, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Public Order Police official had gone missing on his way to a Shiberghan bank on Tuesday.
Before reaching to the bank, the policeman was captured by the Taliban, who killed him later on in Dasht-i-Laili area on the outskirts of the provincial capital.
Ghafoori said the Taliban had not yet returned the victim’s body, but efforts were being made by local elders to convince the insurgents into handing over the policeman’s corpse.
Separately, the Taliban attacked an uprising force patrol in Aqcha last night. One volunteer was killed in the ambush, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
