700kg of drugs seized from 7 vehicles in Logar raid

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have seized 700 kilograms of narcotics during an operation in the Khoshi district of central Logar province, an official said on Sunday.

The seizure came during an operation on Saturday in Dobandi area of the district, the governor’s spokesman, Salim Saleh, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the 700km of drugs were recovered from seven vehicles. Besides the drugs, 350kg of ammonium nitrate, 200kg of potassium  nitrate and 12kg of explosives were also recovered from the seven vehicles.

The official said no one had been arrested in connection with the seizure, but efforts were underway in this regard.

He said the drugs had been brought from eastern provinces to Logar for supply to other provinces.

Saleh said the NAD forces conducted a separate operation in Dobandi area of Khoshi district, arresting a man for cooperating with the insurgents.

He said one AK-47 assault rifle, three remote-controlled landmines and 30 mortar shells were recovered from the detainee’ home.

A similar amount of drugs had been confiscated by NDSinfo-icon officials during a previous raid in the same district about 10 days ago.
