3 civilians killed, as many injured in Herat explosion
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Three civilians were killed and as many injured in a roadside bombing in the Shindand district of western Herat province on Monday, an official said.
The governor’s spokesman, Jilani Farhad, told Pajhwok Afghan News the roadside bomb tore through a Corolla car in Parmakan area at noon.
The injured had been shifted to the Shindand hospital, said Farhad, who added no one had been detained in connection with the incident, but roadside bombs were mostly planted by Taliban militants.
Abdul Qadir, a resident of Parmakan area, said: “It was almost noon when we heard a loud explosion and later we came to know that three civilians have been killed and three others wounded in the blast.”
The Taliban have so far said nothing about the incident.
Shindand is among unstable districts of Herat where militants and Afghan forces often get engaged in armed clashes.
