Tajik guard, Afghan trespasser killed in border clash
Asia-Plus quoted a statement from the Main Border Guard Directorate as saying the clash between a border patrol and a nine-member group, which crossed over from Afghanistan, took place on Saturday.
The fire exchange near the Panjborder post early killed one trespassers and one Tajik guard, who was identified as Warrant Officer Suhrob Safolov.
It added the Afghan group was led by Mir Afzal, son of Arbab Sher Afzal. Mullah Fashiddin, son of Qurban, was killed in the skirmish. A search for other members of the terrorist group is ongoing.
According to Afghan media, the armed trespassers crossed into Tajik territory from Kunduz province. They are said to be members of the Taliban movement.
