Aimed at expanding Afghan labour markets, the programme involves supporting 2,500 entrepreneurs in Kabul, Balkh and Nangarhar provinces, paying $500 to each.
Under the programme, the enterprises would be extended financial and technical cooperation, Deputy Labor Minister Ahmad Shah Salehi said.
The World Bank has received proposals with work plans from 1,500 entrepreneurs from Kabul province and 524 eligible businessmen were selected for the programme.
Thirty percent of the candidates are women, according to Salehi, who hoped the initiative would be implemented in all 34 provinces, if the results were successful.
