Every Afghan must plant at least a sampling: Ghani
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani, launching a green belt project in Kabul, said each Afghan should plant at least one sampling for the country’s greenery.
Planting a sampling at the Presidential Palace, the president said the protection of natural environment was their religious and national responsibility, a statement from the place quoted him as saying.
“Generations are like a chain linking them. The sapling I planted today is for the next generations,” he said.
Ghani said every person should plant at least one sapling for the greenery of the country.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has decided to establish a green belt on 550 hectares of land in Kabul, but the belt would be expanded to 10,000 hectares over the next few years, he announced.
The president also insisted on reviving the country’s forests, saying their aim from environment point of view was rehabilitate Kabul to which King Babar was hopeful.
Ghani extended his new solar year’s wishes to the people of the country and hoped all the countrymen would actively take part in increasing the homeland’s greenery.
