Samangan Information Department gets new building

AIBAK (Pajhwok): A newly-constructed building for the Department of Information and Culture was inaugurated on Thursday in the northern province of Samangan, officials said.

The building has 16 rooms and a conference hall with the capacity of housing 300 people, Director of Information Fatehullah Wafi told Pajhwok Afghan News at the inaugural ceremony.

A warehouse, Akitchenand other facilities are part of the building that was constructed at a cost of 15.7 million afghanis provided by the Ministry of Information and Culture.

Employees of the department would previously operate in two rented rooms, but after the inauguration of the new building, they would have enough space to work in, he said.

Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a German organisation,had pledged to provide computers and furniture worth 400,000 afs, the director added.

Governor Mohammad Hashim Zari called the the building a good step toward the development of the province. He said most of the departments had already got their own buildings.

Deputy Minister of Information Zardasht Shams called Samangan a historic province, asking its people to help identifyand preserve valuable sites there.
