Militant commander, woman dead in Kapisa operation
MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A woman and a Taliban commander have killed and nine others wounded during an ongoing offensive in the Nijrab district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Saturday.
Qais Qadari, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operation had been underway for three days. The fresh causalities were inflicted on the insurgents late on Friday.
A notorious Taliban commander, identified as Farhad, was among the dead. Three other militants and as many Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were wounded, he added.
One woman was killed and three other civilians were wounded during a clash in Sarboli locality, the gubernatorial spokesman said. The injured were evacuated to the emergency centre at the Panjsher Hospital.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Charkalaarea, said they had evacuated their homes and shifted to safer places as heavy clashes were underway in the area.
