Mar 15, 2016 - 17:55

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) on Tuesday said mayors for municipalities and district chiefs would be appointed across the country in the next three months.

The IDLG deputy director, Abdul Baqi Popal, addressed a ceremony held for introducing 16 newly appointed district chiefs, that the administrative heads of the towns should have good behaviour with the people for removing the current gap between the people and government.

The chiefs for Nahrain, Deh Salah and Khinjan of Baghlan province, Baharak and Chah Aab of Takhar, Dand Patan and Chamkani of Paktia, Tagab of Kapisa, Abshar of Panjsher, Shaghnan of Badakhshan, Sozma Qala of Sar-i-Pul, Quram Qul of Faryab, Gulistan of Farah and Khushi district of Logar province, were introduced during Tuesday’s ceremony held in Kabul.

Up to 67 districts in different provinces have been still led by acting chiefs, he said while promising that they would resolve the problem in the next few months.

“The recruitment process for the positions has been started with the help of Independent Administrative Reform & Civil Service Commission (IARCSC) and all the district chiefs would be recruited in the next three months,” he said.

According to Popal, in addition to Kabul, 18 municipalities have been administrated by acting mayors, but the mayors would be appointed for the cities by mid July.
