2 held, explosives-laden rickshaw seized in Nangarhar
KABUL (Pajhwok): Two suspected militants have been arrested with an explosives-packed rickshaw in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, the spy service claimed on Thursday.
The arrests, which scuttled a possible attack in the province, came during an operation by intelligence operatives in Surkhrod district, a statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said.
It added the detainees -- Najibullah son and Riazullah -- wanted use the explosives-laden three-wheeler in a suicide attack in Jalalabad, where some deadly bombings have taken place in recent months.
Last week, the NDS arrested seven suspects in connection with a coordinated attack plot in Jalalabad. The Indian consulate in the city came under attack earlier this month. In a January assault, 13 people were killed and 14 others wounded.
