5 uprising members among a dozen dead in Achin clash
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least seven Daesh, or so-called Islamic State (IS), rebels and five members of an uprising have been killed during a clash in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.
Haji Ghalib Mujahid, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Daesh fighters stormed upraising members’ posts in Deh Sarak area on Wednesday night.
He said five uprising members were killed and five others wounded in the attack. Seven Daesh rebels were also killed and a number of others wounded in retaliatory gunfire, the district chief added.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed Daesh fatalities in the clash. However, he was unaware about uprising members’ fatalities.
Akmal, a resident of the area, said the clash continued until 3am last. Both sides suffered casualties in the incident, he added. But Daesh has not yet commented on the clash.
