Afghans in high morale ahead of Sri Lanka encounter: Stanikzai
Addressing a press conference in India, Stanikzai said his teammates had practiced well ahead of the crucial encounter. His boys were confident to win the contest, he added.
The morale of players was high after notching up three wins in a row in the qualifying round, the captain said, adding playing in the main draw of the event itself was an elevating experiment.
Stanikzai said Afghanistan, expected to square off against top teams, had devised separate strategies for all matches.
Rahim Gul Sarwan, a sport expert, said senior Sir Lank cricketers had retired and the new players were mostly young and inexperienced. He, however, admitted some of the Islanders could still be dangerous.
Afghanistan will play England, the West Indies and South Africa in coming group matches.
