Atmar stresses Russia's cooperation in anti-terror fight
Russian ambassador Alexander Mantytskiy and National Security Advisor Mohamamd Hanif Atmar discussed Russian cooperation with Afghanistan and the agenda of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference, a statement from the NSC said.
In addition to support from neighbouring countries, Afghanistan needed Russia's cooperation in the anti-terrorism efforts, Atmar said, adding continued aid from Russia to equip Afghan security personnel was vital for the fight.Afghanistan would participate in the OIC summit with a clear message, Atmar said, without elaborating .
Mantytskiy said his country would help Afghanistan in combat terrorism, maintain peace and stability and would support the policies of the Afghan government. He reaffirmed that Russia was ready to continue assisting Afghanistan in the sphere of equipping the Afghan security and defence forces.
