8 of a family wounded in shootout with robbers
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Eight members of a family were wounded in a clash with robberswho barged into their house in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
Five robbers took away Rs200, 000 from Abdul Wahab’s house in the Nazarabad area of Surkhrod districton Friday night, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The armed burglars were trying to steal valuables from the house, when the family members got up and confronted them, Khogyani said, adding Abdul Wahad, his wife and six children were injured in cross-fire.
Police immediately reached the area and arrested an injured thief while four others managed to flee the scene, he added.
Shafiullah, a relative of the family, said Abdul Wahab had been working at a marble factory for a monthly salary of 10,000 afghanis.
