Russians among 10 held from IS leader’s home
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Ten Russian and Tajik nationals have been detained by intelligence officials from the house of a Daesh commander in eastern Nanagarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
The security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the foreign nationals had been detained by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces in Khewa district.
The detainees had taken refuge in the home of a Deash or Islamic State commander and had been trying to reach Achin and Shinwari areas under Daesh control.
The source added the detainees included three Russians and seven Tajik citizens and they were under investigation.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, said NDS officials had detained nine foreigners a few days ago and the detainees were currently being interrogated. He didn’t provide their nationalities.
A provincial council member, Suhrab Qadiri, said the NDS officials had detained five foreigners including women and children, who spoke Russian language.
“These detainees are related to Daesh group and have entered Zabul province from Waziristan area of Pakistan and then Nangarhar.”
