A series of entertainment programmes to mark Nawroz

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Kabul Municipality and the Ministry of Information and Culture would celebrate the new solar yearinfo-icon with a series of exhibitions, concerts and theatres, officials said on Saturday.

Nawroz (first day of the new solar year) is celebrated across the country with different entertainment programmes. Flag-hoisting at the Mazar-i-Sharif Shrine in northern Balkh province and Sakhi Shrine in Kabul is one such event.

Maintenance Department head at Kabul MunicipalityNisar Ahmad Habibi Ghori told Pajhwok Afghan News they organised programmes in several parts of capital Kabul from 6am to 2pm.

The celebrations would take place on the first day of Nawroz at the Sakhi Shrine and Badam Bagh area of Kabul. The acting mayor and Ministers of AgricultureAsadullah Zamir will participate.

On the second day of Nawroz -- or Farmers’ Day would -- an expo of agricultural products will be arranged in the Badam Bagh locality of Kabul.

Music concertswill be held on the first day of Nawroz atop the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan hill in Kabul from 8:30am to 2pm.

Deputy Minister of Information Syeda Muzhgan Mustafawi said they would play an important role in conducting the agricultural expo in Badam Bagh.

The ministry will also set up the cabins of handicrafts, distribute brochures and place banners in different parts of the city. It will facilitate theatre and musical programmes.

They would conduct another exhibition of photographs, paintings, arts and handicrafts in the Babar BaghBabar Garden) area of Kabul for four days.
