UNICEF donates medical equipment to Bamyan hospitals
BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) donated 23 machines to health centres in central Bamyan province to reduce child and mother mortality rates.
Acing Public Health Director Dr. Mohammad Reza Akbari told Pajhwok Afghan News the 23 Ultrasound and incubator machines, worth $230,000, were handed over to the Bamyan Civil Hospital and clinics in Panjab, Waras and Yakawland districts.
Abdul Rahman Ahmadi, the governor’s spokesman, praised the UN support to the health centres, saying the assistance would play a vital role in the medical treatment of patients at the clinics.
UNICEF’s country director in Afghanistan said child and mother mortality rates would be reduced with the use of the machines by the health centre.
