KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Peace is the need for the country, but the government’sremains unclear on talks with militants, alleged the Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon deputy speaker on Sunday.

“Peace is the need of the hour as life is impossible without peace. But people want to know what conditions area for that,” as Haji Zahir Qadir.

At a news conference here, he expressed concern over border violations and construction of roadsin Afghan territory by the government of Pakistaninfo-icon.

Accepting such moves would undermine Afghanistaninfo-icon’s territorial integrity, he warned, saying peace based on compromise would create more problems.

About HIA’sannouncement to participate in peace talks, he said: “All anti-government Afghans, who wish to take part in peace talks, are welcome, but we have to wait for the results.”

He asked the government to identify who it wanted to negotiate peace with, Talibaninfo-icon or Pakistan. “And what would be the demands of the people who want to talk?” he asked.

Recently, Pakistan violated the border in the Anargi area of Goshta district, but the security personnel remained calm, he said. “It should be clear whether the silence of the government is compromise over peace.”
