Security up in Kabul as flag hoisted on Sakhi shrine
KABUL (Pajhwok): Thousands of people took part in the Nawroz flag-hoisting ceremony at the Sakhi Shrine in Jamal Mina locality of the capital Kabul on Sunday.
The flag was hoisted at around 10:40am in the presence of thousands of people, including government officials, amid tight security arrangements.
Deputy Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahman, Mohammad Alam Khalili, son of Mohammad Karim Khalili,senior officials and representatives of different embassies in Kabul were in attendance.
Alam Khalili congratulatedthe nation on Happy New Year and hoped the year would be a harbinger of happiness, peace and stability.
Messages of Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Mohaqiq, Karim Khalili, the deputy chairman of High Peace Council, Syed Hassan Anwari, the chairman of Harakat-i-Islami Party, Sadiq Mudabbir, head of board of directors of Hezb-i-Insijam, were read out on the occasion.
