US delivers another 4 attack aircraft to Afghan forces
KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States on Tuesday delivered another four light attack A-29 gunship aircraft to the Afghan Ministry of Defence, an official said.
Afghan technicians and pilots would also be trained in the US, MoD spokesman Daulat Waziri told Pajhwok Afghan News.
“The attack planes are technically important to boost morale. They can hit the trenches of enemies,” he said, adding the aircraft had the capacity to operate different types of machineguns, bombs, rockets and canons.
With the latest delivery, the number of 20 A-29 Super Tucanos with the Afghan forces has increased to eight.
Waziri said the remaining 12 slow-flying attack aircraft would be handed over to the Afghan forces in the near future.
