Asian Cup qualifier: Afghanistan down Singapore 2-1
Khaibar Amani struck the first goal for Afghanistan in the 39th minute at the neutral venue of Takhti Stadium in Tehran, the capital of Iran and put his side ahead before Yousaf Shirdel struck the second goal in the 78th minute to seal the win.
For Singapore, Fazrul Nawaz pulled a goal back against Afghanistan in the 89th minute and thus Afghanistan winning the match 2-1. Singapore, however, are automatically into the third and final qualifying round of the championship, having secured third place in Group E earlier.
Meanwhile, there is also a chance the Afghans could automatically advance with the victory, although they will have to wait for other results to find out if they finish as one of the four best fourth-placed teams across the region.
