Sherpao wants QCG to facilitate Afghan peace talks
Addressing a news conference on Sunday, the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP)chief asked the Quadrilateral Coordination Group(QCG) to facilitate dialogue between the Afghan government and Taliban.
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao hailed the ongoing reform process in the tribal region near the Afghanistan border as a good step to bring the militancy-hit areas into the national mainstream.
Comprised of the United States, China, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the group has held several meetings in Islamabad and Kabul on how to pave the ground for peace negotiations.
Despite the QCG’s optimism about bringing the two sides to the negotiating table, the Taliban have refused so far to talk to the Ashraf Ghani administration as long as their demands were not met.
