2 killed, 8 injured as truck flips over in Kandahar
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Two persons were killed and another eight, including women and children, sustained injuries on Tuesday when the truck they were travelling in flipped over in southern Kandahar province, an official said.
The truck, carrying three families along with their belongings, was coming from central Uruzgan province to Kandahar when flipped across the road in Tangi area of Shah Walikot district in the afternoon, Kandahar police spokesman, Zia Durrani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the dead included two men and the injured included three women and five children, blaming the incident on a dilapidated condition of the road.
Durrani said recent rains had damaged some parts of the Uruzgan-Kandahar highway. Police rushed to the scene and evacuated the injured to the Mirwais hospital in Kandahar City.
A doctor in the hospital said the injured were under treatment and said some of them had sustained serious injuries.
