6 Daesh fighters killed in Nangarhar drone strike
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least six Islamic State (IS) rebels, including a commander, have been killed in a drone strike in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News the attack on IS, or Daesh, rebels took place in the Laghar Jo area of Kot district late on Monday.
He said the insurgents came under attack while traveling in a Corolla car. The police chief believed the militants were planning to attack a nearby security post.
Six Daesh fighters, including Commander Abdul Hai, were killed in the raid that also destroyed the car they were travelling in, Sherzad added.
Bakhtiar, a resident of the area, confirmed the attack but did not have more details to share. He said the fighters had recently intensified activities in Kot district.
