NSC discusses govt’s preparations for Warsaw summit
KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Security Council (NSC) on Tuesday discussed the country’s security situation and government’s preparations for NATO’s summit in Warsaw, Poland, in July this year, the Presidential Palace said.
Chaired by President Ashraf Ghani, the NSC meeting was attended by the defence and interior ministers who presented their reports about the security situation in Helmand, Uruzgan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Faryab, Sar-i-Pul and Baghlan provinces.
In a statement, the Presidential Palace said the NSC praised recent achievements of the Afghan security and defence force in their recent operations across the country.
The meeting also discussed the Afghan government’s preparations for the Warsaw summit, where the Afghan government would present its report on achievements and activities during the past one year and would also float specific suggestions about the needs of Afghan forces, the statement added.
The NATO chief had said the participants would stress their long-term commitment to Afghanistan through the Enduring Partnership.
