$20m worth projects executed in 5 provinces
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development on Wednesday said nine projects worth $20 million have been completed and put into service in five provinces.
A statement from the ministry said the projects, including clean drinking water schemes, were executed in Khost, Helmand, Herat, Farah and Badghis provinces and some districts.
The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development had signed contracts for these projects with social development councils in the provinces concerned through the National Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programme (Ru-WatSIP).
The projects included digging 81 deep water wells, construction of three water reservoirs, rehabilitation of 140 water wells, 100 toilets in schools, establishing specific places for waste and water storages for hand washing for schoolchildren.
Funds for the projects, including five executed in Herat province, had been provided by the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
