Prisoner hangs himself in Bamyan central jail
BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Khaliq Dad, serving a 20-year prison term, has hanged himself in the central jail of Bamyan province, an official said on Wednesday.
The deputy police chief for the central province, Mohammad Ali Lakzai, old Pajhwok Afghan News Dad hanged himself inside his cell late on Tuesday.
He was part of an eight-member terrorist group accused of conducting subversive activities, said Lakzai. An investigation into his hanging has been launched, while the motive is yet to be ascertained.
As many as 100 people, including six women, are imprisoned in the Bamyan central jail.
Separately, the corpse of an 18-year-old girl was recovered from snow in the Sari Qul locality of Yakawalang district on Wednesday.
Mohammad Reza Riffat, head of the Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) for Bamyan, said body was retrieved from 40 meters beneath snow with the help of heavy machinery
