Top 12 Quran reciters picked for contests abroad
The 12 reciters hailing from Kabul have been selected from among 72 aspirants after a three-day competition in Kabul. Ihsanullah got first, Ahmadullah second and Inayatullah finished third in the recitation contest.
At a special ceremony for the winners, Qari Barakatullah Salim, head of the reciters affairs at the Ministry of Hajj and Islamic Affairs (MoHIA), said the 12 reciters would travel to Iran, Malaysia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Turkey for participating in recitation contests this year.
He said the selected reciters belonged to Kabul province, but the ministry was planning to hold contests in which reciters from all provinces could participate.
MoHIA Minister Faiz Mohammad Usmani said one of the primary goals of his ministry was to prepare professional Quran reciters. Today’s program was the beginning of the process, he said.
He added the government had increased Islamic education learning programs, particularly Quran’s learning.
