Terror plot thwarted as explosives seized from Nangarhar mosque
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A huge quantity of explosives has been recovered from a mosque in the Khewa district of eastern Nangarhar province, preventing possible casualties among worshipers.
The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News on Saturday that the explosives were found in the central mosque of Ghondi village before Friday Prayer.
He blamed the enemies of Islam and people had packed several gas cylinders with explosives and placed them inside the mosque to kill worshipers.
Security forces discovered and defused the explosives, the spokesman said, explaining that government officials were not among the worshipers.
Governor Salim Khan Kunduzi praised the security forces for thwarting the terror plot that could have caused heavy casualties.
