Ghazni civilization centre to be completed soon: Minister
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Urban Development Minister Syed Sadat Nadari on Sunday said the under-construction Islamic Civilization Centre in southern Ghazni province would be completed soon.
During a visit to Ghazni City, the provincial capital, the minister said his ministry had allocated $17 million for the civilization centre’s completion.
He said 80 percent work on the centre had been completed and the structure would have a meeting hall and other rooms.
“It is a major project for Ghazni and we will take urgent steps for its completion,” the minister said, promising the construction of a government township in Ghazni City and the implementation of a water supply project.
In addition to these projects, many other reconstruction schemes were needed in Ghazni, Governor Mohammad Aman Hamim said. “After our many requests, we hope the minister would also execute other projects in Ghazni City, “ he said.
Ghazni City was selected to serve as the Asian Capital of Islamic Civilisation for 2013 by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation at a conference held in Tripoli, Libya, in 2007.
Nadari arrived in Ghazni a day after local residents told Pajhwok Afghan News no development project was executed in the province during the past two years.
