MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Thirty-eight development projects have been completed in the Chamtal district of northern Balkh province under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP), an official said on Sunday.

NSP spokesman in the northern zone, Farid Ahmad Sadat, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) executed the projects costing 82,189,000 afs.

He said the projects included construction of 19 community centres, 10 school buildings, a 183-metre surrounding wall for a school, 113 culverts and the gravelling of a 7-km road.

At least 9,361 residents in 38 villages of Chatmal district would benefit from the schemes, Sadat said.

A resident of the district, Shafiqullah, said though some school buildings had been constructed there, yet many schools remained without buildings.

Farid said 2,246 projects have been executed under NSP in 934 villages of Balkh so far.
