ACB looking for new head coach after Haq’s resignation
ACB president Nasim Danish said in an interview published on Monday that they unhappy with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to appoint Haq as chief selector.
Danish told an Indian newspaper: “The PCB never seriously thought of (hiring) his services but once he became popular with the recent success of the Afghan team, the PCB thought of hiring him.”
The ACB will advertise the head coach post, he said, adding: “Our top priority is an Indian coach. We want some big name to take our cricket further.”
Manoj Prabhakar’s contract as a bowling coachwith the Afghan team ended recently and he might be offered a fresh contract for a better position. “We also have Sridharan Sriram in mind. His services were hired by Cricket Australia for their youth team.”
The board has also approached Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jaywardene to guide the Afghan players. The ACB may also contact Pakistan’s Younis Khan, who can better communicate with Afghan cricketers.
