14 killed, 21 injured in Taliban-Daesh clashes

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Dozens of militants have been killed and wounded during fresh clashes between rival Taliban and Islamic State or Daesh groups in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Tuesday.

At least 35 fighters were either killed or wounded during the clashes that broke out in Haska Mena district’s Nari Obu area, Nangarhar police spokesman Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pahwok Afghan News.

A group leader was among 10 fighters loyal to the Iraq and Syria-based Islamic State (IS) outfit killed and another 15 wounded during the latest clashes between the two sides.

The Taliban also suffered casualties. Mashriqiwal said four Taliban fighters were killed and six others wounded.

The two groups have so far said nothing about their clashes that came after a lull in the infighting in various districts of Nangarhar.
