Herat’s chief prosecutor gunned down
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The chief prosecutor for western Herat province has been gunned down in the provincial capital near his home by unknown attackers, police said on Thursday.
Provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Majid Rozi told Pajhwok Afghan News the appellant attorney’s office head, Samiuddin Rahin, was attacked in front of his house in the fifth police district of Herat City, around 3:30pm.
A number of local security officials had been detained over negligence to prevent the incident, he said.
Resident Naqibullah, giving an eyewitness account, said the gunmen got off from a car and fired at Rahin and killed him.
The attorney’s 10-year-old son, who was sitting with him in his car, was also injured in the incident, he said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the murder.
