7 Taliban killed in clash triggered by attack on district HQ
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Seven fighters were killed and 10 others wounded during a clash triggered by an attack on the Aab-i-Band district headquarters in southern Ghazni province on Monday, officials said.
The insurgents faced strong resistance from the Afghan National Army (ANA) and police personnel, spokesman for the 3rd brigade of the 203rd Thunder Military Corps, Mohammad Hanif Rezaee, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
As the attack was repulsed by the ANA and police, seven assailants were killed and 10 others wounded during an hour-long clash, he said, adding a soldier was also injured in the gunbattle.
However, a resident of the district, Allah Mohammad, said he heard ANA ambulancesirens in the area. The Taliban fighters have so far issued no comment regarding the attack.
