9 kidnapers, 6 rebels held in Nangarhar raids
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Nine alleged kidnappers and six militants have been detained in a series of security operations in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Three militants accused of terrorist activities were detained in the Ghanikhel district, the provincial government spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, said.
Separately, intelligence officials detained three kidnappers on Monday before they could reach their prey in Zangoi area of Behsud district, the official said.
The same day, National Directorate of Security officials detained another six kidnappers in the first police district of Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
Khogyani said Taliban militants opened fire at the bazaar in Hesarak district, injuring a woman on Tuesday morning. Two suspected militants were detained.
The official said the injured woman was under treatment at the district clinic and her condition was said to be stable. Security forces had launched a search operation in the area to hunt down the attackers.
The governor spokesman continued that security forces during search operations in Rodat and Ghanikhel districts a day earlier detained two militants along with a walkie-talkie and a car.
The rebels have said nothing about these incidents. The kidnappers were arrested at a time when kidnapping incidents have increased in Nangarhar and other provinces.
Two days ago, a large number of people protested in Jalalabad against the killing of a kidnapped child in Kabul.
