Work on 180m afs market launched in Kandahar
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The municipality on Tuesday launched construction work on a marketplace in Kandahar city, the capital of southern Kandahar province, to create business and work opportunities.
Deputy Kandahar governor Abdul Ali Shamsi, Mayor Eng. Rokhan Wolasmal and some traders participated in the project launch ceremony here.
Wolasmal told Pajhwok Afghan News the three-storey market building in six blocks was being constructed in Old Customs Department area of the city and would have a total of 250 shops.
The marketplace would cost 180 million afghanis and would be completed in six months, he said, adding people whose shops were destroyed as part of the project, would be provided shops in the market.
Shamsi praised the project that he said would offer work opportunities for hundreds of people.
