36 insurgents eliminated in counter-terrorism operations: MoD
KABUL (Pajhwok): Dozens of insurgents have been eliminated killed in fresh counter-terrorism operations in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed on Monday.
“As a result of the clearing operations by Afghan security and defence forces, 36 armed insurgents, including two of their commanders, and were killed,” a statement from the ministry said.
The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Sar-i-Pul, Herat, Jawzjan, Baghlan, Kunduz, Takhar and Helmand provinces.
Backed by heavy artillery and air force, the forces killed 22 militants, including a commander Zargay, and wounded seven wounded in Maiwand and Shah Wali Kot districts of Kandahar.
Two fighters, including a dreaded terrorist named Abdullah, were killed in Takhar. Another two fighters were killed and seven wounded in Sar-i-Pul while one militant was eliminated in the Dand-e-Ghori district of Baghlan
According to the MoD statement, five 5 armed militants including commanderAlef were killed and three others wounded in the Deh Rawud district of Uruzgan.
Six fighters were killed in the Andar district of Ghazni and Zurmattown of Paktia, where four others were wounded.
