Mixed martial arts fighter Mubarez downs Russian opponent
Mubarez, who had spent three weeks training in Thailand in the build-up to the event, made short work of Maksim Katkov, who popularly known as Moscow's Devil, in the first round of the encounter on Sunday night.
It was Mubarez's third appearance at the Russian MMA club fights since he topped a voting contest arranged by Afghanistan's Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB). He has won two belts and three cups in MMA contests.
In early May, Mubarez outclassed Amir Satarov, another Russian athlete. Last night, he scored a pulsating win three months after losing to Islam Makoev of Russia in his ACB debut.
He ended the game downing Katkov with a rear naked choke submission.Mubariz secured first place in “Striking Eagles” contest which was organized by Absolute Championship Berkut and received 7,516 votes during the contest.
His emphatic triumph was acclaimed by a large number f Afghans, including government officials, politicians and youth. His photographs have gone viral on social media networks.
