MoPW signs 13km road construction contract
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) on Wednesday signed a contract with a private company for the construction of a 13-kilometre road connecting Tangi Tarakhil area to Deh-Sabz district of capital Kabul.
The contract was signed between MoPW and Elyas Wais private construction company. Work on the project would begin in a week.
MoPW Minister Mohammad Baligh said the seven metres wide road would cost 358.7 million afghanis, half of it donated by Japan and the rest by the Afghan government.
He said the construction company was responsible to complete the project in the stipulated 15 months and consider and maintain quality work.
He said the road would connect Tarakhil, Deh Yahya, Pacha Sahib and Painmar areas and resolve traffic and transport problems.
Malak Khan Sayed, a public representative from Deh Sabz district, happy over the project, said the road would benefit around 10,000 families.
