Explosives-laden car seized near Interior Ministry in Kabul
KABUL (Pajhwok): Police seized an explosives-laden car near the Ministry of Interior (MoI) building in Kabul and detained its drive on Tuesday, an official said.
Najibi Danish, deputy spokesman for the ministry, claimed police had prevented a car suicide bombing near the MoI building.
He added a man driving the Corolla car was detained near Jamhooriat Hospital in the second police district at around 10am.
The man, posing as patient’s attendant, wanted to enter a prohibited area where he tried to conduct a bomb attack. But he was detained by intelligence officers.
The would-be suicide bomber was currently under police interrogation, Danish added.
Meanwhile, the crime branch chief for the 101st Kabul Asmayee Zone, Col. Faridoon Obaidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News police defused the car full of explosives.
Some gunmen were hiding in the area, but the situation was under control, he said. The Taliban militants have not yet commented on the incident.
